…or just Ann Coulter? In a speech at the Conservative Political Action conference on Friday night, Ann Coulter had this to say in reference to Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards:

“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards  but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word “faggot,” so I — so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

And also from  Fox News , “Members of the audience seemed startled, then many clapped, and she proceeded to open the floor to questions, reported EditorandPublisher.com”. With the exception of McCain, all Republican presidential candidates were in attendence ( more info ), and now DNC chair Howard Dean has released a statement calling for those candidates to denounce Coulter’s statement.  My take is that it probably won’t make much of a practical difference, but it would be nice to see a Republican candidate with the balls to step up.

Hollywood is a fincky crowd. David Geffen, one of the founders of Dreamworks has been a long time supporter for the Clintons and recently changed horses and started to back Obama.

Geffen helped co-host a fundraising party over the weekend for Obama that raised $1.3 million and was attended by the likes of Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Morgan Freeman, Taye Diggs, Zach Braff, Jackson Browne, Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines, and Jennifer Aniston. Aniston was quoted as saying, “he’s lovely.”

David started the fire after being quoted by Maureen Dowd, New York Times, as stating that Hillary is “incredibly polarizing” and said Republicans think “she’s the easiest to defeat.”  As well as stating that while “everybody in politics lies,” Bill and Hillary Clinton “do it with such ease, it’s troubling.”

Geffen’s word were then deemed inappropriate by Clinton.

“If Senator Obama is indeed sincere about his repeated claims to change the tone of our politics, he should immediately denounce these remarks, remove Mr. Geffen from his campaign and return his money,” said Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson. “While Democrats should engage in a vigorous debate on the issues, there is no place in our party or our politics for the kind of personal insults made by Senator Obama’s principal fundraiser.”

Obama’s camp retorted that they would not give back the money. Barack’s communications director said, “It is ironic that the Clintons had no problem with David Geffen when he was raising them $18 million and sleeping at their invitation in the Lincoln bedroom.”

Ahhhh – it’s going to be an exciting race. Let the games begin!
