This week’s “Hillcast” is titled “Energy” and in it, she explains her plans to create a “Strategic Energy Fund.”
Hillary begins this weeks “conversation” (as she like to put it, even though she is talking to a camera) with the following statement:
“The more energy self sufficient we become, the more we can stop spending billions of dollars and sending them to unstable regimes all over the world. Some of them who are financing terrorism…”
Here is her plan:
She wants to make clean energy for
America. She proposes that we utilize the power of technology to find smart solutions for our energy future, which will inevitably create more jobs.
She is proposing a new legislature that would create a “strategic energy fund” that would invest in developing and deploying clean, homegrown energy. We will create this fund from the windfall profits of the oil companies that just announced the largest profits in the history of the planet. She proposes to tell these oil companies to “play or pay”; to invest in alternative energy or to pay a portion of the excess profits from the spike in the rising oil prices into the Strategic Energy Fund.
She estimates that this fund will have over 50 billion dollars to invest in
America’s new energy future over the next 10 years.
This fund could end our dependence on other countries and also help create new industries in
America.
She knows this will work because she has begun this inNew York
State. In
New York, she has worked hand in hand with local businesses. As an example, in
Fulton, she is building the largest ethanol plant in the Northeast.
She feels that clean energy is key in order to help stop Global Warming. She wants to ensure a better environment for our children.
The Fund will also invest 9 Billion dollars in an energy research initiative. She feels this will encourage inovators to aid in coming up with new ways to preserve our energy resourses.
Further, she hopes to transform this country from Energy dependence to Energy independence and turn Global warming into an “historic global renewal.”
My comments:
Her plan has many valid points. I think she is not wants us to become independent of other countries, but she also is interested in our future. If this plan works, there will be more jobs created in America and our nation as a whole will help stop global warming. It is great that she wants to fund this strategy with the money made from America’s wealthiest companies. This is the classic Robin Hood story, without the stealing. She wants to use the profits from these wealthy companies to fund something that will be of great benefit to our society. And not only does she envision this working, she has proved that it can work in her own lovely state, New York.
Hillary Clinton is all over the web like white on rice. She has embraced several of the tools the web has to offer to appeal to masses of different kinds of voters. I have to give her credit for trying to stay current in today’s society. Now on her website, not only can people watch “Hillcasts”, they can also read Hillary’s blog. I think this is great. Found on her webpage: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/blog/view/?id=977 , Hillary Clinton has a blog page that allows anyone to comment about her campaign and also allows Hillary herself to keep real with the little people.
In her own words, “I believe that the web is not only creating new forms of political dialogue but offering a new wave of opportunity for all Americans – and one of my highest priorities will be to make us number one again in the world in broadband.” This statement shows a real interest in keeping
America innovative. She sees the web as a way to keep
America’s role as the leading innovator.
She continues to state the following, “Net Neutrality is something that I am also fighting for now in the Senate so that the web remains open and democratic.” What is “Net Neutrility” you ask, well I had to look it up myself and this is what I found on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_neutrality ) : “a broadband network free of arbitrary restrictions on the kinds of equipment attached and the modes of communication allowed would be considered neutral by most advocates, provided it met additional tests relating to the degradation of various communication streams by others.”
Not helpful? I take this statement to mean that Hillary Clinton is fighting for our right to have freedom on the internet. Thanks Hillary!
